ABOUT US

We’re back - The blucru’ team under our team matriarch Alison Sellers is back to compete in the 2006 - 2007 (and beyond - we're up to 2008 now!) Newcastle Variety Bash.

We had our first year in 2005 and after starting in a paddock out the back of Bathurst with a $450 blue 1966 HR Special shell and countless hours of resurrection, we made it and won the ‘Most Enthusiastic Virgins’ Award. In 2006 (YES!! we made it back) we won the 'Best Presented Vehicle' which was great ... but most importantly we were part of a great Newcastle Bash!

The story from last year was all about the maverick efforts of Sean Kelly, Ray Prendergaust and Andrew Sellers along with about a dozen sponsors that kicked in to get us there in our first year. This year we had a few more things sorted but as alwaysit was still a major challenge right up to the deadline. This year it finished at Alisons School and Variety donated $15,000 dollars to "The Sensory Room" - a project designed by Alison over years which has finally got the funding to be completed ... one off cutting edge education. Alison is a Special Education Teacher and is currently teaching at “The Hunter Orthopaedic School” in Newcastle. She has taught Special Ed in Newcastle all her working life, teaching kids with mild to severe disabilities and has called on “Variety” many times for help with specialist equipment, such as walking frames, standing frames, special wheelchairs, play equipment and the list goes on and on. Variety steps up when we have no one else to ask.

This year we've called it 'Double Trouble 2008' as we have two cars - with Norma (aAisons Mum) driving a HR station Wagon under the Blu Cru team
